Toddler Killed By Car In Desert Hot Springs

Desert Hot Springs police are nvestigating the death of a toddler hit by a car over the weekend..

Police say 17-month-old Damien Rojas was hit just before 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in front of a home in the 66400 block of Dillon Road.

Family members said a mailman hit the baby. They said the usual driver had the day off. The new driver didn’t know the area well — and didn’t know to look for a little baby.

“The child was devastated. They picked up the kid and took it to the hospital. He was a lovely kid. Everybody is going to miss him,” cousin Roman Alvarez said.

Baby Damien was pronounced dead at Desert Regional Medical Center. The family said they don’t know what will happen to the driver.

So far, no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.
