Friends Mourn Desert Hot Springs Teen’s Death
Daisy Sanchez remembers her boyfriend in three words.
“I loved him,” girlfriend Daisy Sanchez said.
Marcello Moscozo was shot and killed just as the new year rang in, a death friends don’t understand.
“He was innocent he was a good guy,” Sanchez said.
Friends said his spirit went unmatched.
“Now that it’s gone I’m not that type of person anymore because without Marcello no one else can replace him in that position,” Marina Arras said.
Sanchez and her friends said they need the community’s help for a funeral.
“We’re trying to do a car wash, we just need donations to help him and his family,” she said.
Less than a half hour into the new year and the valley was marked with its first murder.
“I’ve seen a lot of gang stuff going on around here I hear about police raids and everything and as a parent worrying about more and more gangs in this area we have to worry about our kids going out,” friend Lisa Schmidt said.
Marcello’s mom said this about her son: “He loved to make everyone laugh. He loved to cook. He loved to make people smile. He always helped me with whatever I needed.”
Sanchez stays strong, saying its not the sound of gun shots that bother her.
“I’m not scared. It’s just that he didn’t have to die,” she said.
“We need to get justice for Marcello. I think it’s important to bring who do this to justice to keep our kids safe and so her mom knows what happened to her baby,” Schmidt said.
Desert Hot Springs police said they are following a few very positive leads.
