Man, Woman Dead After Shooting At Hemet Courthouse

A man and a woman were shot and killed outside the Riverside County Courthouse in Hemet on Wednesday in what police are calling a murder-suicide.

The shooting was reported at around 8 a.m. outside the courthouse on Date Street.

Witnesses, including a KESQ viewer who alerted us via Newsline 3, said a man and woman were arguing in the parking lot.

They went to separate cars, and then the man shot at the woman’s car. He then walked calmly up the car, they said, and shot the woman twice, killing her.

Another woman who was also in the car escaped and has been taken away by police for questioning.

The man reportedly drove off and shot himself a couple miles away from the courthouse sending his vehicle into a ditch.

Hemet police identified him Wednesday afternoon as Ralph Costales.

The courthouse remains open for business on Wednesday, but many people are stranded because their cars are parked in the crime scene of the parking lot.
