3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Felt East of Indio

The US Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.5 earthquake Saturday evening at the eastern end of the Coachella valley. It was centered 7 miles east northeast from Coachella, about 10 miles east of Indio and 27 miles from the city of Palm Springs. It was felt at 5:59PM.

The quake was considered small, but enough to feel for people around the Coachella valley. One caller to the News Channel 3 newsroom said she heard the quake more than she felt it. But it also felt like a small rolling sensation.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries or property damage from the small temblor. It follows an equal-sized earthquake in the same area the day before.
