Desert Hot Springs Elementary School Burglarized

Desert Hot Springs Police officers responded to an alarm just before 4 a.m. Sunday at Cabot Yerxa Elementary School.

The school is located in the 67,000 block of Desert View Avenue.

Officers said when they arrived, three men were running from the playground with large duffel bags.

Officers discovered the library had been burglarized and came across three duffel bags at the fence line of the school that the burglars apparently dropped in their haste to get-away.

The duffel bags contained 46 Apple laptop computers that were stolen from the library, police said.

Police ended up arresting a suspect who was found hiding underneath a car.

A fourth man was later found hiding in a trash bin and was also arrested.

Joshua Ligow, 25, and Martel Turner, 20, both of Moreno Valley, were taken into custody.

They have been booked at the county jail in Banning.

Two other suspects remain at large. Police describe them as black men wearing dark clothing.

If you know anything about the burglary, call Valley Crimestoppers at 760-341-STOP.

You can remain anonymous and could receive up to a $1,000 reward.
