14 Leaders To Raise Money For Coachella Valley Students
Fourteen Coachella Valley leading ladies will host a fundraiser today at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells to benefit young women seeking funds to go to college.
The Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley will host the third annual “GIRLZ & Our Leaders” Scholarship Fundraiser Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the resort at 45000 Indian Wells Lane. The luncheon includes a silent auction and panel discussion with 14 elected women officials.
The panel includes Indian Wells council member Mary T. Roche, Cathedral City Mayor Kathy DeRosa, Desert Hot Springs Mayor Yvonne Parks, Desert Hot Springs council member Jan Pye, Indio Mayor Pro Tem Elaine Holmes, Indio council member Lupe Ramos Watson, La Quinta Mayor Pro Tem Terry Henderson, La Quinta council members Linda Evans and Kristy Franklin, Palm Desert Mayor Jean Benson, Palm Desert council members Cindy Finerty and Jan Harnik, Palm Springs Mayor Ginny Foat and Rancho Mirage council member Iris Smotrich.
Last year, the group awarded $18,500 in scholarships. The goal this year is to award $25,000 in June, according to Roche.
Tickets for the event are $45 for members and $55 for nonmembers. More information can be found at ww.wlfdesert.org, and tickets can be purchased on the site.
