Curtains Close On The Palm Springs International Film Festival

After a week of celebrities and red carpets, the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival is coming to a close.

The festival winners were announced at a luncheon today at Spencer’s restaurant.

For some perspective, the film festival screened 188 films from 73 countries.

The winners:

“Starbuck” received the Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.

“The Girls In the Band” and “Wish Me Away” tied for Audience Award Best Documentary Feature.

“The Turin Horse” received the FIPRESCI Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

“The House” won the New Voices/New Visions Award.

“The Tiniest Place” won the John Schlesinger Award, which is presented to a first-time documentary filmmaker.

Viewers filled out ballots and voted on the films they saw all week. Monday is the “best of the Fest” as voted by viewers.
