Univ. of California Riverside Protests Interrupt Regents
The University of California Board of Regents has resumed its meeting at the Riverside campus following a protest. No arrests were made.
University spokeswoman Kris Lovekin says the meeting resumed Thursday after a 45-minute disruption in which about 15 protesters sat down and linked arms in a circle in the meeting room.
Campus police formed a line in the room, but protesters eventually left peacefully on their own.
The board has reconvened in the original meeting room as protests continue outside the building.
Students and other protesters angry over tuition increases due to state funding cutbacks have disrupted several recent board meetings. The board is scheduled to meet all day Thursday, but tuition is not on the agenda.
