Bill Clinton Talks Golf, Health At Humana Challenge
Former President Bill Clinton is as big a draw as any of the pros or celebrities at the Humana Challenge in La Quinta.
On Friday, he stopped by the Clinton Foundation’s hospitality tent to talk a little golf.
“I have no idea what my handicap is now, but it’s high,” he said during a quick news conference.
Clinton will tee it up with pro Greg Norman for Saturday’s third round.
“I’ll have to try to play better than I normally do to keep Greg Norman from ragging me about it for the rest of my natural life,” joked Clinton.
After decades as the Bob Hope Classic, the tournament has a new name, a new format and a new mission of promoting global health.
Clinton said they’re changes the legendary comedian would be proud of.
“He would be tickled. I think he would like it a lot. I miss him. I wish he were here,” said Clinton.
Clinton said he’s enjoying meeting fans and catching up with old friends. And now that his foundation is a key part of the desert event, he plans to keep coming back.
“Yeah, I signed on. I’m going to be here every year,” he said. “First, I’m having a good time. Second, it’s my responsibility. I want it to work.”
