Indio Stuns Palm Desert in Prep Boys Basketball… Monday Recaps
BOYS:
Palm Desert 59, INDIO 60 (F)
The Indio boys have been working toward a marquee win all season. On Monday night, they got it… and then some. The Rajahs stunned Desert Valley League power Palm Desert 60-59 in front of a raucous pro-Rajah crowd, handing the Aztecs their first league loss of the season and snapping P.D.’s 8-game win streak. Palm Desert may have been dealing with an emotional hangover after last Friday’s rivalry win vs. La Quinta. Indio’s upset puts the Rajahs back in the playoff discussion and opens the door for defending DVL champ Palm Springs to overtake Palm Desert in the DVL standings. Palm Springs visits Palm Desert next week looking for redemption after the Aztecs shocked the Indians on their home floor earlier this month.
La Quinta 46, PALM SPRINGS 70 (F)
The Indians took care of business at home against the Blackhawks and won their fourth straight game overall. Palm Springs now moves into a tie with Palm Desert for tops in the Desert Valley League. The Indians will play at Indio on Wednesday. The Rajahs, who just shocked Palm Desert, will have a shot at a second big-time upset in three days.
GIRLS:
PALM SPRINGS 44, La Quinta 31 (F)
The Lady Indians remain within striking distance of first place Indio after a solid double-digit road win. Palm Springs lost the first match-up with Indio 47-37, but have a shot at equalling the season series on Wednesday when they host the Rajahs.
