Car Shows Take Over The Desert

It’s a big weekend for car lovers in the Coachella Valley.

Some classic beauties are in Palm Springs for the 52nd McCormick’s collector car auction.

The show took place in the parking lot at the Spa Resort Casino.

It featured 500 high-end classic and mid-priced cars. It happens twice a year and draws in collectors from around the world.

“They’re gorgeous, they’re sexy, they sound good, they look good, what more do you want?” car lover Troy Villiard said.

Admission is $15.00. The auction continues Sunday from 8 to 5.

As more than 250 vintage luxury cars make up this year’s Rancho Mirage Desert Classic Concours D’elegance. The event included a tour through the valley for public viewing. The “rolling works of art” came to a stop for display at Cuistot restaurant on El Paseo.

“We’re bringing more than 100 years of the best of automotive design automotive engineering, beauty. It’s just phenomenal,” Desert Classic Concours D’elegance founder Paul Merrigan said.

The classics will be on display again Sunday at the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage from 10 to 4. Tickets are $35 at the gate.
