News Channel 3 is Live with Kelly, After the Oscars

Watching your favorite actor win an Academy Award on TV, is as close to realizing a Hollywood dream, as most of us will get. So just being on-stage at the Kodak Theater, for her post-Oscar show, was a dream in itself, for Kelly Ripa.

With a full house on-hand, Kelly and co-host Neil Patrick Harris make a grand entrance, surprising the audience of 3,000, including contest winners from the Coachella Valley. Armando Ehrencweig, from La Quinta calls the show, “Fantastic! It was awesome. Thank you for the experience!”

It’s an experience every movie fan dreams about. Watching the Oscar-winning cast of The Artist in-person, isn’t something you get to do everyday. And capturing the moments you don’t see at home, is always entertaining. You can see the hosts get help from cue cards off-stage, during their interview, with Best Supporting Actress, Octavia Spencer. Then during commercial breaks, the crew quickly changes the set, just in time for the producer to give the audience direction, when it’s time to make some noise for the next guest.

After giving the cue to wrap, it’s our turn for some one-on one time backstage, with Kelly: Tamara Damante: Kelly, you were so at home on that stage. Kelly: Was I? Tamara: You were! At the Kodak Theater for the very first time! Do you have any aspirations to host the Oscars one day? Kelly: Can you imagine? They would throw fruit!

All joking aside, Kelly tells us getting so close to the Oscar experience is something she thinks her own grandfather would have predicted. She says, “He would say, she should be in show business. And I sort of felt like maybe he was watching somewhere at that moment. So, I got very emotional at that moment when we came out.”

A moment she recognizes as every little girl’s dream come true and one she doesn’t take for granted. She says, “Maybe when you do something everyday, sometimes you forget how special it is. But, when you do it on such a grand scale, in such a historic place, it just really felt special to us.”

As for who could be replacing Regis Philbin, Kelly doesn’t have an update, just yet.
