Suspect On The Loose From Desert Hot Springs Shooting
A suspect remains on the run and five people are hospitalized after an overnight shooting, according to Desert Hot Springs police.
The incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 13-300 block of Miracle Hill Road in Desert Hot Springs near Hacienda and Agua Cayendo Way, according to public information officer Ken Peary.
“It was a lot of chaos, people yelling, girls screaming, and I said someone got shot for sure,” said Charles Fields, a neighbor.
The shooting victims were all taken to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, said Officer Peary, but their conditions were not immediately known.
Officers were near the scene and heard the shots when they were fired, according to Peary.
Investigators did not release a suspect description or a motive for the shooting, but Peary said it could be gang-related.
“Not 100 percent, but I’m kind of leaning in that direction,” said Peary.
When they got to the location, police found a large group of people dispersing from a party in the area.
“There were so many people that they needed further assistance,” said Officer Peary.
Not only did neighbors say it was shocking a shooting happened in their ?quiet? neighborhood, but that there was big party as well.
“I thought this area was really nice. That’s the reason we moved down here and just hearing this kind of violence is going on is pretty scary,” said Cassondra Rogers, who just moved to the desert from Philadelphia.
