Gas prices fall again in Palm Springs area

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire declined today for the 41st time in 42 days, dropping three-tenths of a cent to $4.155, its lowest amount since Feb. 23.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 3.2 cents less than one week ago, 16.8 cents lower than one month ago and 8.7 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 22.4 cents over the past 42 days, including a half-cent on Monday.

The average price fell for 39 consecutive days, then was unchanged on Sunday.

The declining pump prices stem from a steep decrease to the wholesale gasoline price, Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
