McCallum Theatre announces ‘Open Call’ winners

The McCallum Theatre announced the winners of this year’s Open Call talent competition on Wednesday.

This year’s 22 finalists were selected from 181 submissions, according to a theatre spokesperson.

Winners were selected by a panel of four judges and the audiences from the first three performances, whose combined votes served as the fifth judge.

Open Call host, Rob Watkins – 2011 Grand Prize winning ventriloquist, announced the following winners at the final performance on Saturday evening:

The Helen Turner Grand Prize ($2500) & Audience Favorite Award ($750) – Gerald Colucci/Dicitencello Vuie (Just Say I Love Her) by Rodolfo Falvo

Second Place Award ($750) – Dillon Trollope and the DHSHS Steel Orchestra/Concerto for Marimba & Steel Orchestra by Aldwyn “Lord Kitchner” Roberts

The Arline and Seymour Kreshek Talent Achievement Awards ($500)
Best Vocal – Emily Ramirez/As If We Never Said Goodbye by Andrew Lloyd Webber
Best Dance – Hartin Dance Company/River Deep by Phil Spector, Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich
Best Instrumental – Emma Reinhart/Saxophobia by Rudy Wiedoeft
