Palm Springs Walk of Stars welcomes ‘Bionic Woman’

Actress and Palm Springs-area resident Lindsay Wagner, star of TV’s “Bionic Woman,” will receive a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars this weekend, organizers announced Monday.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at 515 N. Palm Canyon Drive, which is across the street from the Palm Canyon Theatre and near Palm Springs Koffi cafe.

Walk president Robert Alexander said expected guests include actor Richard Anderson from “The Bionic Woman” and “Six Million Dollar Man,” singer and actress Lynda Carter from “Wonder Woman,” actress and comedian Carol Channing, actress and comedian Ruta Lee and Dr. Gladys McGarey, who is known as the “mother of holistic medicine.”

The 62-year-old Wagner, who won an Emmy Award in 1977 for “The Bionic
Woman,” also works in advocacy and public education. She has co-authored two
books — a vegetarian cookbook, “The High Road to Health,” and a book on
acupressure, “Lindsay Wagner’s New Beauty: The Acupressure Facelift.”

From 2003 to 2006, Wagner co-facilitated a support group for convicted
batterers and their families with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

For 25 years, she has been honorary chairwoman of the Inter-Agency Council on
Child Abuse and Neglect. She has organized “Quiet the Mind & Open the Heart”
retreats and workshops, which help people access inner peace and happiness,
according to Internet Movie Database.

The star in Palm Springs is the result of the Lindsay Wagner fan club, which raised the $10,000 to purchase the star for her. The group also raised the money for Wagner’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“We are proud to honor Lindsay Wagner with a star on the Palm Springs
Walk of Stars,” Alexander said.
