Twentynine Palms Marine acquitted in stabbing case

A Marine based in Twentynine Palms was acquitted Thursday of accusations that he stabbed a fellow serviceman outside a Palm Springs bar.

Pfc. Jason Thomas Boland, 23, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, along with a sentence-enhancing allegation of intent to cause great bodily injury, in the Aug. 28, 2011, stabbing of 21-year-old Nicholas Bellais outside the Crazy Coconut Bar & Grill on North Palm Canyon Drive.

An Indio jury deliberated for about a day before acquitting Boland.
