CalTrans announces week-long I-10 closures

Parts of Interstate 10 between Banning and Palm Springs will be closed nightly for pavement work.
The work will close alternating lanes of I-10 in both directions between Pennsylvania Avenue and Highway 111. It will be done nightly until Saturday, according to Caltrans.

The closure schedule is as follows:

7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, alternating lanes 1 through 4 on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Hargrave Street; 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, alternating lanes 1 through 4 on westbound I-10 between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania; 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, alternating onramp and offramp closures on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Hargrave; 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, alternating onramp and offramp closures on westbound I-10 between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania.

In February, a paving miscue by Caltrans resulted in a huge Sunday traffic jam on westbound I-10 between Palm Springs and Banning. The agency apologized and vowed it would not happen again.
Caltrans posts updates on Twitter, and its online QuickMap at www.dot.ca.gov shows roadwork and accident information in real time.
