The Southern California Collegiate Baseball League held its annual open tryouts at Palm Springs Stadium on Monday morning. Pitchers Garrett Hicks and Bill Olson as well as infielder Tyler Surnbrock signed 10-day contracts with the POWER.

Hicks hails from Yucaipa and played for Mt. San Jacinto this season, while Olson is a native of Palm Desert and pitched for Riverside College. Surnbrock, who played for Chapman University this season, is from Tustin, CA.

The three new players will join the rest of the roster and report for the first day of practice on Tuesday as they get ready for opening weekend. The POWER will hold open practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. in anticipation of the season.

The POWER will open the season on Friday, June 1, when it hosts Team San Diego at Palm Springs Stadium in a non-conference game. Game time will be at 7:05 p.m.
