Man killed by truck in Carlsbad loading dock crash

Police say a 48-year-old man has been hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on the loading dock of a Carlsbad floral supply business, according to Carlsbad police.

Investigators told KGTV in San Diego that the industrial accident at Kendal Floral Supply was reported shortly after midnight Friday morning.

A Carlsbad Fire Department dispatcher says the man died at the scene.

He was identified later Friday as the victim has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as Arturo Cuellar from Oceanside.

The TV station reports after opening the rolling door to the loading dock area, Cuellar stepped out to the edge of the dock and the truck lurched backwards. The rear doors hit Cuellar in the head, knocking him to the ground.

Paramedics were unable to revive him.

Carlsbad is 35 miles north of San Diego.
