Police searching for man suspected in attempted murder

Palm Springs police are searching for a Palm Springs man, suspected in a shooting that happened early Wednesday morning, according to police.

It happenedjust before5:45 a.m. outside the Andalucia Apartments on the 300 block of South Sunrise.

Officers found a 44 year-oldman inside a white van, who had been shot in the chest, said Sgt. Mike Kovaleff. The shooting stemmed from a possible argument two men were having, according to Kovaleff.

Hewas taken to a local hospital in serious condition, but is expected to recover.

The suspect, 32-year-old Mario Antonio Abelon, took off after the shooting, and remains on the run. Police say Abelon should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and dark shorts.
