Magnitude 3.3 earthquake hits Joshua Tree
A magnitude-3.3 earthquake rumbled through the expansive Joshua Tree National Park early Sunday morning.
The quake struck at 3:50 a.m. about 15 miles southeast of Joshua Tree, or 12 miles south-southwest of Twenty-Nine Palms, according to a preliminary reading from U.S. Geological Survey.
Joshua Tree National Park covers about 1,235-square-miles, straddling the Riverside-San Bernardino county line, and is slightly larger than Rhode
Island.
Earthquakes in the magnitude-3 range are perceptible by humans but unlikely to cause any significant damage to buildings.
