Motorcyclist killed on Interstate 10

A Cathedral City motorcyclist was killed while traveling on Interstate 10 in Beaumont Friday evening.

Christian Lancaster was riding westbound, about a quarter mile east of Beaumont Avenue, just before 6 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lancaster was trying to keep up with his small motorcycle group when he tried to pass between a Chevrolet Suburban towing a flatbed trailer and a big rig truck, according to Officer Steven Storm.

As he was passing, he lost control of his motorcycle, Storm said. Lancaster was thrown from the motorcycle and was run over by the big rig.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

The driver of the big rig did not stop at the scene. The big rig was red and pulling a light-colored semi-trailer.

If you have information about the collision, contact the CHP at 951-769-2000.
