Teen Seriously Injured in Palm Desert Crash
A 16-year-old teen was seriously injured when a car struck him Monday night near the intersection of Fred Waring and Deep Canyon Drive in Palm Desert.
He was taken by helicopter from Palm Desert Middle School to an area hospital for treatment, according to CAL Fire.
Investigators closed Deep Canyon between Via Palmera and Moss Rose Drive for several hours. Traffic was being rerouted around the area as of 9:45 p.m.
During the investigation, authorities learned shortly after 7:30 p.m. a white unknown make early 2000’s model two-door compact car had struck the teen who was walking on the roadway of Deep Canyon Road.
The car failed to stop and continued northbound on Deep Canyon.The driver of the car was described as a Hispanic woman, about 30-years-old, 5’06”, 150 lbs, with black shoulder length hair.
There’s no word on the teen’s condition or who may have been at fault in the incident.
