Teen in a coma after hit and run

“We’re quite different from one another, but that doesn’t stop us from loving each other, from being brothers,” Bryce Virgin said of his older brother, Grant, who was a victim of a hit and run crash.

Bryce and Grant Virgin, two different brothers, share something — their looks — which came into play Monday night. Bryce and his dad ran an errand that night around 7:30.

“As soon as we drove past the Sacred Heart Church, we saw the scene where Grant was hit,” Bryce said.

Knowing Grant took a walk that evening, the two of them went to talk to police. An officer looked at Bryce, and said the victim looked like him.

Walking on Deep Canyon just north of Fred Waring, a car hit Grant and drove off.

“Right now he is in a coma. He has survived two surgeries so far,” family friend Mary Ann Guillory said.”He had a torn aorta, multiple skull fractures, an aneurism, he has multiple fractures in both his legs, his hip, his heel, his wrist. His kidney and spleen were also injured.”

Witnesses saw the driver headed north on Deep Canyon.

They describe her as hispanic, about 30-years old, 5’6”, 150 pound- with black hair.

“So, if everyone can be on the lookout for a car with substantial front end damage. I believe the car hit him at 40 mph, and with the kind of damage done to the child, there has to be significant damage to the car,”Guillory said.

Grant, the son of media personality and fitness guru JJ Virgin, remains hospitalized in Los Angeles and his parents are with him.

JJ wrote us, “it’s unfathomable to me how someone, especially a woman, could hit a child and leave them in the street to die.”
