Central California woman dies from West Nile virus

A Central California woman has died from West Nile virus complications.
She is the second Fresno County resident to die this year from the mosquito-borne virus.
The Fresno Bee says the woman died last month. At the request of her family, county health officials say no other information is being released.
Sixteen county residents have been diagnosed with West Nile this year.
Fresno County had no West Nile-related deaths last year, and one each year from 2006 to 2010.
The virus is spread by mosquitoes. One out of every 150 infected people develop severe symptoms, including neck stiffness, disorientation, coma and paralysis.
