Update: Marine Shooting in Desert Hot Springs

A 29 Palms Marine continues to fight for his life after being shot in the head earlier this month.
Craig Maddy was shot in the head near the intersection of Indian Canyon and 20th Ave. He remains in an area hospital, while his family waits for answers.
Desert Hot Springs Police Department Commander, Ken Perry says, “The investigation is still ongoing. There are no new developments. Detectives are actively working it.”
The 21 year-old corporal returned from Afghanistan, in October. On the night of December 5th, he was celebrating a birthday with some fellow Marines, when they had an altercation with another group, at a bar in Palm Springs.
Eventually the altercation went mobile, and a light colored SUV followed the marines to Desert Hot Springs.
Someone opened fire and Maddy was shot in the head.
In an e-mail to News Channel 3, Craig’s stepfather John Arnold says, “Craig’s condition remains critical but continues to improve and we thank all the wonderful people around the world who have kept Craig in their prayers. Our heart felt sympathies go out to the families in Connecticut and Oregon who are also suffering the horrifying loss of their loved ones. We will keep them in our prayers.”
Police tell us that they are following-up on a few leads but they are not releasing any new information on the suspects involved.
They are asking anyone with any information to come forward.
Perry says, “I think people saw the initial incident that took place in Palm Springs at several locations within the city and probably saw the people involved…maybe not the shooting but they saw the incident that led up to the shooting.”
