Palm Desert apartment fire displaces four people

A fire broke out today in the attic of a Palm Desert fourplex, causing no injuries but displacing four people, authorities said.
The fire in the 78500 block of Avenue 42 was reported at 12:10 a.m. and knocked down at 12:34 a.m. by 20 firefighters, said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.
Two adults and two children were displaced but did not need accommodation assistance from the American Red Cross, she said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
