Mexican filmmaker set to receive honor at PSIFF

Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez will honor Mexican filmmaker Ivan Trujillo during the Palm Springs International Film Festival
tonight.

Perez will recognize Trujillo at 6:30 p.m. at Palm Springs Regal Theater for his contributions to the advancement of Spanish-language cinema.

Trujillo, who is director of the Guadalajara Film Festival, is in Palm Springs to serve on the jury for the new Cine Latino Award, which will present a $5,000 prize to the best Ibero-American film screening at the festival.

“He has shown himself to be a true champion of Latino cinema and culture, both here and abroad,” said Perez, who is vice chairman of the California Latino Caucus.
