Police open roadway after suspicious device determined safe

Palm Springs Police shut down an intersection in Palm Springs due to the report of a suspicious device in the roadway.

Police say they were notified around 10:07 a.m. Sunday by a person who spotted the device on San Rafael Drive between Avenida Caballeros and Hermosa Drive.

Officers responded to the location and located the suspicious device. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Hazardous Device Team was called in. The device has been determined to be safe.

Officers believe the device was a hoax but the investigation is ongoing.
