Loose miniature horse leads to death of woman

A woman died Thursday morning while trying to wrangle a loose miniature horse in Lakeland, California.

Riverside Animal Control Services says that around 6:00 A.M. a mini horse got loose in the area of Grand Avenue and Ontario Way in Lakeland Village.

A woman was trying to retrieve the horse when she was struck by a car. She later died. Animal Control says there are not sure if the woman was the owner of the horse.

The horse is now being held at Animal Control’s main shelter. The miniature horse is a male. Age undetermined at this point. And Animal Control says they do not know the horse’s name.
