The Palm Desert Police Department is planning a DUIand driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location tonight and tomorrownight.

The checkpoint will operate from Friday night to Saturday morning andSaturday night to Sunday morning, 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

It’s aimed at reducing the number of people killed or injured on localroads by people driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Sgt. DaveAdams said.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office ofTraffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
