String of robberies in Indio

A series of armed robberies and attempted robberies last month in Indio has prompted police to ask the public’s help in catching the man.

Indio Police detectives believe the same man is responsible for the three hold-ups and two attempted armed robberies of markets and other businesses in Indio that started Feb. 9, Indio police Administrative Officer Benjamin Guitron said.

The suspect tried robbing the Valley Meat Market in the 43000 block of Clinton Street on Feb. 12 and failed, but succeeded ion a robbery there five days later. That was the last hold-up the suspect committed, according to an Indio police flyer.

The suspect, described as either a Latino or white man in his mid-20s or mid-30s, is also believed to have a connection with two armed robberies in
Coachella and another in Palm Springs.

The suspect is 6 feet tall, has razor stubble and wears dark sunglasses along with an LA Dodgers baseball cap. He also wears a dark shirt and dark long-sleeve sweatshirt, and carries what looks like a silver handgun in his waistband. The suspect has been on foot, Guitron said.
