Power outage in Indian Wells UPDATE 2

Around 9 a.m. this morning, the area surrounding Cook St and Highway 111 lost power, causing firealarmstoinadvertentlyset off, reports say.

The cause of the power outage is unknown at this time and it is not clear when power will be returned to the area.

UPDATE: Power has returned to commercial buildings in the area. However, many residential homes are still without power. Edison Power is currently working at the corner of Wingfoot and Fairway attempting to fully fix the problem.

According to Edison, 79 customers are currently without power, and full power should be restored by 3:30 p.m.

UPDATE 2 (3:51 PM): Edison now says 43 customers are still without power and that it could take until 11:30 p.m. to fix the problem.
