Q&A with Tippi Hedren to follow screening of Hitchcock’s “The Birds”

Actress Tippi Hedren, who starred in AlfredHitchcock’s “The Birds,” will attend a 50th anniversary screening of the 1963horror film in Palm Springs tomorrow.

Hedren will answer questions after the 7 p.m. showing at Camelot Theatres.

The 1963 film was recently digitally remastered, according to MichaelGreen of the Palm Springs Cultural Center, which is putting on the screening.

“The Birds” was billed as “introducing Tippi Hedren” when it wasreleased by Universal Pictures and also stars Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy,Suzanne Pleshette and Veronica Cartwright. It was nominated for an AcademyAward for best visual effects in 1964, and Hedren, mother of actress MelanieGriffith, won a Golden Globe the same year for most promising newcomer,according to IMDB.

“The Birds” is based on a short novel of the same name by Daphne duMaurier. In the film, a San Francisco socialite follows a love interest to asmall Northern California town, where birds start to attack people.
