Brooke Beare and Karen Devine honored Thursday in Cathedral City

Local anchors Brooke Beare and Karen Devine were among 45 women honored today in Cathedral City by Assemblyman Brian Nestande at the”Women of Distinction” luncheon in honor of Woman’s History month.

Remarkable women whose contributions have improved lives in their communities were celebrated – this is a tradition that began in the State Capitol in 1987 and continues today . Assemblyman Nestande honored women in business, community service, education, journalism, medicine, public safety, volunteerism, and student athletics. Each honoree was recognized for profoundly affecting her community. This honor is offered as an acknowledgement of their individual contributions and commitment.

Nestande’s past honorees Mrs. Jan Oliphant-2009, Peggy Cravens-2010, Patti Spicer-2011 and Rose Mary Ortega-2012 who served as the Honorary Selection Committee joined this year’s celebration.
