Human bones found in Thermal

Workers clearing a field for agricultural purposes inThermal today found human bones, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The find was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at Avenue 60 and MonroeStreet. Workers who were clearing a large field of brush so it could be usedfor farming found the bones and called the Riverside County Sheriff’sDepartment, sheriff’s Cpl. Angel Ramos said.

He said homicide and forensics detectives and coroner’s officials weresent to the scene and verified the bones were human, not animal remains.

The person’s identity and cause of death have yet to be determined.
