No tickets sold with all six numbers in first Powerball drawing involving California

There were no tickets sold with all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery and the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s drawing will grow to $70 million.

One ticket with five numbers but missing the Powerball number was sold in Indiana and is worth $1 million, a California Lottery official announced.

The numbers drawn tonight were 1, 36, 40, 52, 53 and the Powerball number was 20. The estimated jackpot was $60 million.

The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 31.85.

The Powerball game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tonight’s drawing was the first where tickets were sold in California.
