Felon considered ‘armed and dangerous’ arrested in Thousand Palms

A Desert Hot Springs man suspected of stealing amotorcycle, stripping it and putting the parts on his own motorcycle was behindbars today, police said.

John Thomas Faile, 43, was arrested shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday inthe 31800 block of Shelter Drive in Thousand Palms, sheriff’s Sgt. BradFarwell said.

After a short foot pursuit, Faile was taken into custody. He had a no bail felony warrant for violating his parole and was on parole for robbery and was considered armed and dangerous.

Faile’s Honda motorcycle had components on it from the stolen Ducati,sheriff’s Cpl. Angel Ramos said.

“The owner identified his parts because they’re custom made,” saidRamos, who said sheriff’s officials still had to get the Ducati’s value fromthe owner.

Faile is suspected in the theft of a motorcycle from a Rancho Miragehome last month, he said, adding that the stripped frame of the stolenmotorcycle was found later.

Faile’s motorcycle had components on it from the stolen bike, Farwell said.

Faile, who was on parole for robbery, was jailed in Indio and deniedbail, according Farwell and jail records.
