Indio High School evacuated after fire breaks out

Indio High School students and staff were evacuated this morning after a fire broke out in the attic of the boys locker room. The fire started just before 9 a.m.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the 3500 square foot room at around 10:08 a.m., according to Cal Fire.

There were no reports of injury. Information relating to the cause of the fire and the amount of damage the blaze cause were notimmediatelyreleased.

Police shut down Avenue 46 from Rajah Way to Clinton Street during the evacuation.

Classes resumed just after 10 a.m.
