Soroptimists donate library books to Lincoln Elementary School

Twenty library/classroom books were donated by the Soroptimist of Palm Desert club to Abraham Lincoln Elementary. This follows a long tradition of donating the books to the school in honor of the club’s speakers at their monthly luncheon meetings. The school recommends book titles for library and classroom usage according to their needs.

Presentation of the books was made in the office of Principal Jill Garner who was accompanied by Judy Grenier, Teacher. Ms. Grenier selected most of the titles provided for the children.

Books such as “Laura Ingalls Wilder Country: The People and Places in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Life and Books,” “Little House on the Prairie,” the story of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s life, and fun books such as “Olivia Counts,” “Creepy Carrots!,” “Three Ninja Pigs,” and “Those Darn Squirrels,” were included in the selection.

Public schools and their teachers are always in need of additional library/classroom books, paper, pencils, supplies of all kinds. In that the District’s funds are limited, teachers often must purchase these items personally. If you would like to donate items or money, contact the school Principal Jill Garner at 760.862.4340.
