Public helps local authorities make hundreds of arrests

Valley CrimeStoppers has been in the tool box for Coachella Valley law enforcement agencies since the late 1970’s.

Anonymous tips from the public have helped solve more than 40 murders and led to more than 300 narcotics arrests and more than 400 burglary arrests.

Sometimes, even a small piece of information can help solve crimes, said Brent Conley, the coordinator for Valley CrimeStoppers. Conley says if you see suspicious activity in your community, don’t hesitate to call authorities.

“One of the problems people have is that people think police don’t want to be bothered, I don’t want to bother the cops, that’s what cops get paid for, to be bothered,” said Conley. “You gotta tell them what’s going on and they can take care of the problem and take care of the investigation.”

If it’s an emergency, always call 911. Otherwise, call your local police or Valley CrimeStoppers at 760-341-STOP. Tips can remain anonymous and you could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.

Over the years, Valley CrimeStoppers has paid out more than $140,000 in reward money.
