Desert Hot Springs Police investigate overnight murder-suicide

Desert Hot Springs Police were investigating an apparent murder-suicide early Thursday morning.

The Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the two late Thursday morning only as 60-year-olds.

A statement from police said a man reportedly called overnight saying he’d killed his wife.

The 911 call came in at 2:22 a.m., from a residence on the 13500 block of Cerrita Way, according to the statement. The cul de sac neighborhood is located south of Hacienda Avenue and west of Mountain View Road.

A man said he had killed his wife and that he was going to kill himself.

Arriving officers found a man and woman inside the residence, both dead.

There was no word on what type of injuries they had suffered.

Police said an investigation was underway.
