Climber dies after 150 foot fall in Idyllwild

A rock climber is dead after falling 150 feet while scaling a rock face in the San Jacinto Wilderness near Idyllwild.

Riverside County authorities said Saturday that Lucas Dunn died Friday while scaling Lily Rock in Humber Park, a popular climb just outside of Idyllwild, in the mountains just south of Palm Springs.

Deputies and Cal Fire medical personnel responded about 11:30 a.m. to a report of the injured climber and hiked to the scene, where he was pronounced dead.

Lily Rock reaches about 8,000 feet and is also known as Tahquitz Rock.
