Temecula couple dead in apparent murder-suicide

Authorities say a Temecula man who apparently shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself has died.

Riverside County sheriff’s officials say 65-year-old John Leonard Houston died during the weekend from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities say Temecula police officers responding to reports of gunfire found Houston severely wounded inside his home on Thursday. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Officers also found Houston’s 51-year-old wife, Dana, dead from gunshot wounds.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case as a domestic incident.
