Memorial Day traffic slow through Coachella Valley
Motorists reported a “slow-go” on roadways through the Coachella Valley Monday afternoon.
Izzy Torrez Tweeted, “An hour and a half in traffic and we’re not even out of Palm Springs yet.”
Westbound Interstate 10 traffic appeared to be moving at a moderate to slow speed west of Ramon Road in Thousand Palms.
Motorists headed toward Los Angeles should be prepared for low speeds and a lengthy trip at least through the Banning and Beaumont area where it’s normally a 20 minute drive west of Palm Springs.
The California Highway Patrol reported speeds of approximately 25 miles per hour in the area.
A few traffic troubles were reported during the afternoon hours, a brush fire reported at 3:30 p.m. along the freeway west of Frontage Road.
A couple of other relatively minor collisions were also reported.
Annie Nelson reported 7 mile an hour traffic speeds Monday afternoon on the freeway westbound.
Ryan Rodriquez Tweeted, “Have fun with traffic. I’ve been in Palm Springs for 45 minutes bumper to bumper.”
