Small fires in DHS extinguished before they can combine, grow

Riverside County firefighters kept severalsmall spot fires off Highway 62 in Desert Hot Springs from becoming a big fire,a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman said today.

The spot fires were reported at 5:33 p.m. Sunday off Highway 62 at NorthIndian Canyon Drive, said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman MelodyHendrickson.

“Firefighters quickly contained the fire to five acres at approximately
6:09 p.m.,” Hendrickson said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fires was underinvestigation.
