Braille Institute names new Executive Director
The Braille Institute of America in Rancho Mirage has named Lisa Jimenez as Executive Director, Rancho Mirage.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, Jimenez has been affiliated with Braille Institute since 1991, including serving as Regional Director of the Rancho Mirage facility since 2009.
Additionally, she received a Certificate in Non Profit Management from the University of California Riverside University Extension and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the American Society of Aging (ASA), and the Women Leaders Forum (WLF).
The role of the Executive Director includes responsibility for the effective operations of the center and its programs and service, with added focus to include more external activities. This will include developing relationships in the community and building a regional leadership board and additional support groups.
“Our intent is to significantly broaden our base of support here in the Coachella Valley and the region we serve,” commented Jimenez. She added, “With over 80,000 visually impaired residents in our service area, Braille Institute Rancho Mirage is committed to broadening and deepening our fund raising capabilities to support and expand new initiatives such as our recently opened Connection Pointe™ adaptive technology center.”
Braille Institute is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate barriers to a fulfilling life caused by blindness and severe sight loss. Located in Rancho Mirage, the center provides service throughout Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties.
