Jazzercise DVD to be filmed in La Quinta

A Jazzercise convention in La Quinta, starting later today, will feature the filming of a new DVD.

More than 900 people are expected at Jazzercise’s Fitness Fiesta, which starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs through Saturday at the La Quinta Resort & Club. Jazzercise, a dance fitness program founded in 1969, has 7,800 franchisees around the world, including a location in Palm Desert.

This afternoon, there will be a taping of routines choreographed and led by Jazzercise founder and CEO Judi Sheppard Missett. The routines will be sent to instructors around the world.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, Jazzercise President Shanna Missett Nelson will lead a workout that will be filmed for the “Dance HiiT” DVD.

“Nothing compares to the energy of a live Jazzercise event, so we decided to bring this energy to our customers at home, by filming the `Dance HiiT’ DVD live on location in La Quinta,” Missett Nelson said.

The convention also includes four large group fitness classes on Saturday and a vendor expo.
