Coachella Valley boxers, olympians to fight at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino
Undefeated bantamweight Randy Caballero of Coachella willfight Miguel Robles in the scheduled 10-round main event of a seven-bout cardat the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Saturday night.
The 22-year-old Caballero is 18-0 with 10 knockouts. He knocked out LuisMaldonado in the fourth round Jan. 11 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in hismost recent bout.
Robles, a 31-year-old from San Juan, Puerto Rico, is 12-2-2 with fiveknockouts. He is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision loss to FelixPerez April 27 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, in a World Boxing Council FECARBOX superflyweight title fight.
The card also includes three fights involving members of the 2012 U.S.Olympic team.
Featherweight Joseph Diaz (6-1, 3 KOs) of South El Monte will face LuisCosme (8-2-1, 3 KOs) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, in a six-round fight; juniormiddleweight Errol Spence Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs) of Dallas will meet Eddie Cordova (4-4-1, 1 KO) of Provo, Utah, in a six-round fight; and middleweight TerrellGausha (9-2, 3 KOs) of Cleveland will fight Julio Garcia (6-4, 3 KOs) ofRincon, Puerto Rico.
Two other Coachella Valley boxers are also on the card. MiddleweightAngel Osuna (10-3-1, 6 KOs) of Coachella will fight Christian Nava (2-3-1) ofSalt Lake City in a scheduled six-round bout, seeking to extend his six-fightwinning streak.
Heavyweight Alex Rivera of Coachella will face C.J. Leveque of LosAngeles in a matchup of fighters making their professional debuts.
Former World Boxing Council welterweight champion Victor Ortiz will meetfans, sign autographs and pose for pictures from 6:30-7:30 p.m. inside theFantasy Springs Special Events Center.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the first fight beginning at 6 p.m.Portions of the card will be televised live by Prime Ticket beginning at 8 p.m.
